Comments:    Breen indicates that our obverse die P1 is married to two different reverse dies. The first is reverse PA, the reverse associated with almost all original proofs minted through 1854. The second (Breen lists this one first) also shows defects on A3, but smaller than those on reverse PA. We have not been able to verify the existence of this die marriage, but leave a place for it in case it's existence is confirmed at some future time.

Obverse P1

The photo below shows the Obverse P1 attribution grid. Obverse P1 can be uniquely identified by its date position, high in the field and slanting very slightly down.

Obverse P1 Die States
  1. Perfect die.
  2. A faint die crack extends left into the field from the upper point of star 12.
No later die states have been observed.

Reverse TBD

Currently unknown. We will supply information on this reverse if or when the die marriage is confirmed.
