This is the first of two uses of Obverse 2 and the only use of Reverse B.

Obverse 2
The photo below shows the Obverse 2 attribution grid.
1847 Obverse 2 attribution grid
Obverse 2 exhibits no notable features that support attribution, but none are required since the date position
is significantly different from that of obverse 1.
Obverse 2 Die States
- Perfect die.
- Faint clash marks in the field under Miss Liberty's right arm.
- A faint die break across the bottom of the date to the denticles on the left. Die polishing has removed evidence of the clash marks.
The OC-3 die marriage is found with obverse die states a and b. It may exist with obverse state c, but we haven't yet examined an example.

Reverse B
Reverse B displays no major markers. Several minor markers allow identification on mid- to high-grade examples. Vertical die lines
1-1, 1-2, and 1-3 extend well into the horizontal lines. The top of recess 1 has several light, almost horizontal die lines.
The bottom shield recess 1 is unfinished.

Reverse B Die States
- Perfect die.
- Faint clash marks in the shield recesses, only visible on high-grade examples.
No later die states have been observed. OC-3 is found with both reverse die states.
