Comments:
Obverse P1 was used to strike all 1852 die marriages. This is its first use to strike 1852 proof restrikes, and third or fourth use overall. This is the first and only use of Reverse 1856 PA to strike 1852 proof restrikes. It was previously used to strike original proofs in 1856, 1857, and 1858. It was also used to strike 1851 proof restrikes.

Obverse P1 Die States
  1. Perfect die.
No later die states have been observed.

Reverse 1856 PA

Reverse 1856 PA was used for all original 1856 proofs. It was used again in 1857 and 1858 to strike original proofs, and finally in late 1858 or early 1859 to create proof restrikes for 1851 and 1852. This die exhibits only a few minor markers – lumps on S1 and L. Since most proofs seen are relatively high grade they are visible on most examples. The lumps on the L are usually the most visible marker.
