   This is the only use of Obverse 4 and the only use of Reverse D.

Obverse 4 is easy to identify since both 1’s are low in the field. Additional identification comes from some light die lines extending from the denticles right of the date, shown in the following photo. Be aware that these die lines disappear when Obverse 4 reaches die state c.

Obverse 4 Die States
  1. Perfect die.
  2. A faint die crack at the base of the date.
  3. Polished die. The die lines from the denticles below the foot are gone.
No later die states have been observed.


Reverse D

Reverse D exhibits a die chip in the denticles above the O in OF, shown in the photo below, that can be used as a marker for mid- to high-grade examples.
