Comments:
This is the only use of Obverse 9 and the fifth and final use of Reverse C.

Obverse 9

The photo below shows the Obverse 9 attribution grid. The die appears to exhibit a marker in the denticles below the left side of the 8, possibly the top of a misplaced digit or just a die line. We’ve never personally examined an example of this die marriage. Obverse 9 is virtually identical to Obverse 3. The only differences are the die line in the denticles below the 8 and the lack of the die lines under Miss Liberty’s sandal. The only example we’ve identified was sold in a Heritage auction August 16, 2015. That coin was graded AU55 by NGC, holder #4209440-010. Since our description is based on a picture of a single coin it may lack some detail, and it's still possible that Obverse 9 is the same as Obverse 3. We’ll update the description in the future if we’re able to locate and examine an example. If anyone reading this has access to the coin noted above, or another example of the die marriage, we’d love to be able to personally examine it.

Obverse 9 Die States
  1. Perfect die.
No later die states have been observed. However, since we've seen only one example of this variety, other states may exist.

Reverse C

Reverse C displays several die lines around GOD in the motto, indicated by the arrows in the next photo. Also visible is a lump inside the bottom loop of the G in GOD.

Reverse C die markers in motto

Reverse C Die States
  1. Perfect die.
  2. Die lines in the leaves have been removed by die polishing.
OC-14 has been found only with reverse die state b. Note that the die lines in the lower leaves, shown in the descriptions of OC-7 and OC-8, are gone in this die state.
